New Paintings and Weeds

It's been a while since I've posted consistently...I've been really busy getting ready for an upcoming art show for next Saturday and pulling lots of weeds!  Since spring hit really early in Wisconsin everything has gotten really out of control.  We've truly never had so many weeds at this time of year EVER.  I think being away for eight days during spring break sort of threw me off a bit too--lots of yard and housework to do in addition to creating.  Trying to get some fresh paintings to take to the show--here's one of my new creations that I'm going to take with me next weekend at the Racine Lakefront Art Festival.  I'm really looking forward to it because it's my third year there and they really take care of their vendors and I've met some great people as well.

Yay Spring!

Spring is my favorite time of year.  The smell in the air, the birds singing outside my window, buds forming on trees and more sunshine!  The promise of tulips and green trees to come.

Well, spring has come really early this year.  We are having summer-like weather in Wisconsin.  Today was actually 80 degrees and it has been in the 70s for over a week now.  We've gone to the dog park almost everyday which we don't usually start until at least May.  Here are Bella and Mazie strolling up ahead of me.

New sandals, shorts and tank tops have already been purchased.  Here's a picture Bella took of her new sandals as we sat in the truck at a local drive-up custard and burger stand where the girls bring your order to the window, which usually doesn't open until May.

This unbelievable, record Wisconsin weather has been so amazing and so welcome by me.  I can't even begin to explain how great these days have been.  I'm a new person with sunshine, birdies chirping, windows open and flip flops.  I really hope it continues!

Spring, Where are you?

It's no secret I'm not a fan of winter and snow.  It was quite windy, cold and rough driving today because of a new snowfall.  I often say we will move somewhere warmer when Isabella is out of school.  A place where there is greenery all year, flowers for much longer and maybe even fruit trees right in the back yard.  I do wonder though if I would appreciate spring and summer as much if I had that all year round.  Right now, spring is so very delicious to me because of the bitterness of our winter.  I do enjoy the anticipation of my favorite season soon to be here.

So let me say, I can't wait for lovely spring to arrive and with it flowers (tulips and lilacs are two of my favorites), leaves on the trees, green grass and lots of sweet birdies singing in the yard.  And then bring on the summer nights, crickets and a sky full of stars.  I guess this post is to uplift myself and know that the flowers and trees are on their way.  They will be here before I know it.

What a Great Spring Day!

Wow--we finally had a real taste of spring today!  It got into the 60s and it was heaven. 

Isabella and I played a little bit of tennis with our pink rackets in the driveway.  We also took Mazie to the dog park which we've been dying to get to since last fall when we took our final trip there before the snow fell. 

When we got home, we turned the heat off, opened a few windows and sat in the sunroom, snuggled on the couch with Mazie between us--Bella reading a Junie B. Jones book and me reading Lost and Found by Geneen Roth (which I'm loving by the way).

Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer, so we plan to enjoy being outside as much as possible!  I'm a new person when the sun starts shining more, the breezes are warmer and we can hear tons of birds singing.  How about you?  Is it getting nicer where you live? Are you spending more time outside?

Spring Dreaming

It's March 1st!  Spring is finally getting closer everyday.  By this time of year I'm in quite a funk living in Wisconsin.  My favorite time of year is spring when the birds are singing louder, the breeze in the air smells different and soon green buds will be popping up.  We haven't taken a tropical vacation in two years and I'm having withdrawals so I'm doing a little spring dreaming below with some warm-weather places I'd love to experience.  Photos are courtesy of Coastal Living.

A private island just for two?  Snorkeling in the clearest water?  I can't think of anything better right now.  My kind of vacation.  Sign me up!
